Simple, Effective Self-Defense for the Real World
About GHS
GHS started out as a condensed tactical Jiu-Jitsu course geared toward law enforcement and security, but is now expanding into a wide range of online courses dedicated to self-defense presented by Professor Tyson LaRone, co-owner and head instructor of Ironside Martial Arts. Professor Tyson is a third degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, promoted to black belt in 2013 by Professor Mike Yackulic and the legendary Mestre Sylvio Behring. His 22 years of martial arts training also include Kito-Ryu Ju-Jutsu, Kyokushin Karate, Muay Thai, Kenjutsu and wrestling. His specialty is self-defense with special attention paid to the needs of the user of the techniques.
"What I want to accomplish with the GHS programs is to help people to 'think outside the fight'. Most self-defense content is focused 100% on these extreme 'fight to the death' scenario and does not reflect the reality of many situations where self-defense training could be very useful. The basics of Jiu-Jitsu may not change much, but specific techniques and more importantly the context and the MENTALITY that is taught with those techniques changes a lot if you're teaching civilian self-defense where the goal is to create chances to get help or run, a police officer or security guard who is learning to subdue and arrest or an education worker who is trying to safely break up a fight or help a student in distress to keep from hurting themselves or others. With GHS, we can offer those specialized approaches to the people who need these tools the most, anywhere in the world."
